I was divorced 2yrs ago after a 15yr marriage. The divorce was ugly, prolonged and I have no feelings left for my ex. After my divorce I dated with no intention of ever falling in love again until I met my current bf. We have been dating exclusively for 6mnths now and I love him and want to tell him so but I cant say the words. I have tried several times and they wont come out....I cant even say love around him its referred to as the "L" word. We have talked and joked about the "L" word and he said he has considered saying several times....I know I should just get over it and say it but its stuck. Any comments or opinions would be appreciated. Any one else been here?

Tell him that you really care for him a lot and he's very important to you.

If that's as much as you can say right now then that's all you say.

It's only understandable that you would feel this way having gone through such an ugly divorce. You love this man but can't tell him because you're still hurting & want to protect your heart from being hurt again. That's okay & in time, you'll be able to completely let your guard down & saying "ILY" will come easily. You can say those three beautiful words to your b/f in other ways too. Sometimes, actions speak louder than words.

There are many greetings cards that have just the right words to express yourself. Once you get over the hurdle of expressing your feelings, it will be easier for you to say the "L" word.

I understand your dilemma/problem. Life is too short so get to the card shop and find the words that you'd like to say.

Are you afraid he's going to reject you if you say it or afraid to jinx a good thing? There is something holding you back. Figure out what's holding you back, then maybe it will be easier to say it. The first time is always the hardest, after that, it's a breeze.
