The people who oppose your change in habits, activities etc., are the ones who are getting their own needs met through you! That is a powerful motivator to try to keep you where you were!! The difficult part is that they are not aware of their own needs, but just know that you are trying to take something away from them! To make change, we have to move into almost a new group of people--ones who relate to us as the "new" person with similar behavior/likes as theirs.

Yes...I know exactly what you mean. I gave up alcohol (I wasn't an alcoholic or anything, but I just thought it was right) and my so called "friends" can't accept that. Just gotta give me crap all the time and bring me down. I think the reason people do this is because they are jealous that you are strong-willed enough to change whatever it is you are changing, and they aren't. So then they just have to make you feel bad about it. Make you feel like they have it better, when you really know that you have made a positive change in your life.

Absolutely!!
It's like 2 steps forward, three steps back. You have to do what YOU feel is best, and unless it's a life-altering scenario, go with your instincts. Jealousy IS ALSO a large part of the positive changes. So listen to yourself and follow YOUR path. Positive changes can only help (all of us) move forward.
I am in a similar situation, and I KNOW what changes have to be made, and however difficult, I KNOW I can make them work,
Good Luck. God Bless.

When ever you make a positive change, people will and not someone.Because people might be surprise at your sudden change in life for good. And some will be happy about the change while some will not be happy.why? because you have taken a step for good that will affect your life positively.

hi,
so yeah. i've realized that when you try to change to become a better person, everyone around you seems to like your new change but there is always that dumb person who happens to be the same person who always complained about you in the past and told you that you were the worst human being in the worl, but when they see the great results in your positive attitude, they just talk even more and say that you were better off as a mean, inconsiderate person. they're just jealous. =)

Let's face it people are weird and they don't like changes of any kind. Even if the change isn't taking place in their life it still bothers them. All you can do is try to be as understanding as possible all while your still doing what is right and best for you.

Its a life, but its yr life, not his/her!
Actually that depends on who is that person for you, maybe yr parents are, or husband...or maybe relative...so we have to study the situation very well, maybe he/she is right sometimes, and they could see what we could not, that time maybe they will advise you!
other way will be negative (...)!
at the end decision is yrs, so GO forward, just use yr 360 degree brain and make yr base DIAMOND!
regards

It is in most people's nature to fear change, thus negative reactions emerge. I also think that there is probably a bit of transferenc here; they are afraid to make changes themselves, and are probably a mite jealous of your bravery in makeing the change. Good luck with your changes!

It looks that way doesn't it ?

Well, not on all cases i'm shure.
Let me ask you another question to answer that one:

Have you ever had a feeling about someone, and ended up beeing something completly different ?

Well, there's your answer. Sometimes it's not all about someone elses...it about ourselves and our way to think.

My advice: Allways try to see something good in bad things.

Of course....I hate people like that, always trying to bring you down to their depressing gloomy level. It's a game for them, just don't let them.
