Colour should no longer be an issue.
And though most would agree with this if the next President happened to be black - I guess the real test of whether you're a racist or not is by asking yourself whether or not you'd have a problem if he was Chinese, Middle Eastern, Indian or whatever colour you can think of.
Worth thinking about!

Bill Clinton already considered himself the first black president. Listen, I don't have a clue as to what you see in the UK about Obama but he's only had 2 years experience in the US Senate, no less. It is a place where pontificators pontificate and waste all our time. Actually, the Senate should be the half of the Congress that is supposed to put the brakes on the House's actions and deliberate and debate issues. However, we seem to be stuck with a bunch of self-serving idiots who don't bother to look at facts but just react to things.
If Obama had some experience as a govenor of a state then I would take another look at him, but since he doesn't , it ain't gonna happen.

All the Republicans wanted Collen Powel to run. THe problem with this obama guy is he hasn't by far the qualifications to be President. he's been in the Senate a few weeks.
From m;y point of view I wouldn't even consider somone like this who only has the ego to run. Of course we keep electing people like Clinton who only was gov of a very small state(where I live)
BY the way he's half black and half white.

I think it's interesting that people site 'lack of experience' as a potential problem for Barak Obama - exactly what sort of experience does he lack? lying? covering up? Refusing to admit mistakes? You get the picture - as to his colour, well, as someone has already said, it is bizarre that colour could be an issue. Beware of Hilary and the temptation of helping make history - I think she's a wiley bird and probably has all the experience but of the type I've already mentioned!

People need to get over the issue of race! There is no scientific proof or any proof at all that one race is smarter or more competent then another. If you have the brains and common sense, and are willing to listen to what the country has to say then take into consideration their ideas and actually follow through with what you promised, and doing things to benefit and help citizens grow and stay safe it shouldn't matter!

The color of the skin shouldn't matter. I will be glad when we as a country will view people as what they are instead of what they look like.
We had the a coach win a Superbowl this year and it was celebrated because he was the first black coach to do so. We will not have true equality until we celebrate only because he was a good coach.

Why the need to discuss colour ?
Or sex ?
When you do it goes wrong..
I remember a few years back a fuss being made when Moira Stewart became the 1st black newsreader.
Now count the white ones as the Beeb thinks it should do quotas !!

Absolutely.
Especially Obama.
From what I've read in terms of interviews and excerpts from his books, he's smart, witty, a good role model to young African Americans and is fairly candid about his past youthful indiscretions with drink and drugs, unlike a certain incumbent...
Wasn't it interesting to see the right wing media in the US try to discredit him with the whole madrassa thing? The way they tried to say the smear started with the Clinton camp (it didn't) and kept reporting it long after parts of the story were found to be demonstrably false.
The GOP & allies are looking for a way to make him look unsuitable for office whilst trying to avoid discusing his race at all.
Which seems to indicate they're scared of him, and for good reason- they don't have a black candidate to field. Condi's already said she wouldn't run and Powell burnt his political credibility as a Bush stooge who lied endlessly about the war.
