I live in St. Louis originally from Milwaukee. I do not call the Blues my home team.. not that I don't like them.. AS most of you already guessed the Maple Leafs are one of my all time favorite teams.. the Buffalo Sabres being the other. What I don't get is why do you anti Leafs fans spend so much energy hating them.. why not use that energy to show off the teams you do love? I find it hilarious that people will take all their efforts to bash one team when the league has so many teams. I never understood the whole Milwaukee/Chicago thing either. I LOVE the Wolves and I love the Admirals. Infact I went to Admirals games just to see the players on the other teams I loved to cheer for.. The Komets had Purves, the Wolves had Rob Brown and Steve Maltais, the Lumberjacks had Jock Callander, the Blades had Caloun and David Bruce..
The Rivermen had Michel Mongeau, etc.. there were so many talented players to watch and enjoy.. Getting to see Tommy Salo was one of my greatest thrills..

With regards to the leafs.

I know a lot of people in other cities don't hate the team and players as much as they dislike the obnoxious Leaf fans. They've arrogantly taken to calling themselves Canada's team, Every year they groan and lament some injustice league or referees have done to them causing them to miss their Stanley Cup.
They take to invading other teams arenas and acting loud and boorish. Ask Sabre's fans about that and they'll tell you the same story.

Debate them as to who is the best skater player in the league or best skater and if you don't say it's a Leaf you usually get a personal attack back like. That guy blows or You blow.

That's not all leaf fans mind you. But the large number that act like that have made the leafs a bitter rival for a lot of other NHL fans.
You know it can't be that anyone is jealous of the accomplishments the Leafs have had in the past 40 years.

As said before...it's all a rivalry thing. The city that probably hates Toronto leafs the most is montreal...why? Simply because they've been playing against eachother for about 75 years. That's a lot of heartbreaking losses and fights. Also in that time, it was also a war between English and french. Just watch the movie "the Rocket" you can understand a bit more. Now Many other teams have rivalries like that, just because of the proximity of the arenas, so ppl from one team can go to the other's arena to cheer their team and nag the home team's fans. Toronto, is close to many cities in canada and US, so that makes it that more can go there and hate them. It's all about pride. You want your city to be the best. I don't hate Toronto people, but man do I hate their team:P

Perhaps we feel a Little sorry for you Leaf fans. Not! Pathetic peons that have turned Tie Domi into Darryl Sittler. The HABS show class and actually retire a number. I think it is tragic that the the likes of Keon and Sittlers have not had their #'s retired. A travesty they let a player of Domi's calibre wear that jersey. Raising a banner in their honor. That's just sad. The problem with you Leafs fans is you get excited about a little win sreak during the regular season. Start meassuring success on Stanley Cup wins. Just making the playoffs is not good enough however you keep on going. Wake up people.
Go PENS GO!

I'm a Habs fan and always hatted the Toronto Maple Leafs with all my heart. the team sucks period, and the media hypes this team up like there the 1975-76 Montreal Canadiens or compare them to the 80's Islanders and Oilers its so sickening hearing that all the time. oh yes plus the Leafs now are on a little winning streak watch out people they will start to sound like the Sabres fans did at the start of the season. a few big wins now they start talking Stanley Cup what a joke.

Greatest rivalry in the NHL Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs and all original six teams.

Coyote>>>>That rivalry between the Av's and Wings is old and boring different players just not the same so you can kiss that rivalry goodbye.

As a Pens fan I don't like Boston and never will. Don't know what the heck really started that rivalry or why so many seemed to have forget it but yeah I remember that and never liked them. I think it was being in the same division and being stuck playing them at the end of the season so often. Those teams you play at the end of the year are so much easier to hate. Just like I hate the Capitals. That was a playoff rival though. I am indifferent to the Flyers though and don't see how they are our "rival" other then oh it is cross-state.

The Leafs are my favourite team too. It seems that some people just have enormous amounts of negative energy and a big mouth to go with it. Some people have tons of knowledge about hockey and can usually back up what they say....or they go off on a tangent and get opinionated. In the area where I live, the big rivalry is between the Leafs and Wings (aka Ding-a-lings). It's fun to have a rivalry to a point.... It's best to just not let it bother you and keep on cheering on those Leafs!

Your problem is you are Maple Leafs retentive. They are a bum team, have not won in 40 yrs and will not win for at least another 40. They don't have to. Toronto fans will flock to the arena regardless. I guess retention is not just your privy, Toronto is full of them.

I never could understand any of this. All these teams are businesses and have to make a profit to exist. So what's the big deal? Why not invest in the stock market with all your energy and better your financial status.

It's a rivalry thing. You have to dislike one team a lot so that when your team plays them, you can get all pumped up. I love Detroit, but I hate the Avalanche. When they play each other, it's the biggest game of the year next to the stanley cup for me. And when Detroit wins, I can rub it in Avalanche fans faces. I dislike Avalanche so much because of the sportsmenship and because I despise Joe Sakic. I think he is full of himself and that he is in the spotlight too much. I do like Rob Blake though. I don't remember if he still plays for them though.
