It protects the rights of all people born in the USA including women, this amendments was loosely written to avoid being declared unconstitutional is one of the easiest to interpret. As time and attitude shifts so can the meaning of it and the ratification of it
. The amendment was made to give freed slaves certain rights, even in the resistant south, but it also gave rights to anyone BORN in the US to be citizens thus giving women their "soap box" to stand on and start fighting for more rights and power to later and eventually gain the vote. The Library of Congress, the National Archives, and even the history channel have a good explanations. Just be careful to use a sight allowed by your teacher and that is credible, the Smithsonian or a museum page are good wikipida though informative is often not accepted as a valid source.
part 2 - women are NOT allowed to sign up and be drafted as it was decided in the 90's (during the gay rights) who would run all the factories, and war role in the homeland like in WWI and in WWII if women were taken too. Congress decided that women were needed to run the "War Front At Home" This was Decided by a MAJORITY MALE congress, not by women.

the 14th amendment does not address women, there was an equal rights amendment passed by congress in the late 60s or early 70s, enough states did not pass it so it failed ratification, we should be ashamed of that.

No. The 14th applies to women too! Why would women need special rights?
