saddlbreds are known for being a "smooth" ride - I owned one for about 5 years but had to sell her due to the location we were moving - I have owned alot of different breeds and I have to say that the most loyal, sweetest and obedient one was my saddlebred. She was so sweet that I could sit out in the field with her & she would lie beside me and go to sleep with her head in my lap (yeah - a huge horse can be that gentle) I loved her to death

i does no longer be prepared to dish out plenty money on a horse i became purely going path driving on (you probably did no longer point out any plans to compete or education in a self-discipline). Friesians in many situations do no longer attain 17 hands, they're frequently around 15.2, yet there are constantly adjustments in a breed. they have huge, comfortable backs and are heavy horses. they seem to do o.k. in dressage. Saddlebreds are purely like the TBs of the gaited worldwide, being leggy, athletic, warm, clever, with severe set necks and severe withers. they have amazingly long strides and do get above sixteen hands extra frequently, although i've got no longer seen a 17 h one. possibly and older member of this breed would be a acceptable path horse, yet I actual have seen them in persistence and that they are circulate horses, they do nicely with conserving a rapid %. for a protracted time. considering all you would be doing is path driving, perhaps seem for a nil.5/go of one of those breeds or purely save for a horse you like, regardless of breed. path driving bareback will require a horse you may matter on and that may no longer unavoidably anybody breed, yet a undeniable horse. You reported you're tall, and that i'm 5'10", whilst i've got self assurance extra comfortable on a huge horse, I very truly compete on a fifteen.3 hand mare so the will of the pony's top is then widened in case you detect a horse you like that may no longer extremely 17h. yet in basic terms an instantaneous short(ish;-) answer to you question is apparently like a friesian or friesian go would be extra acceptable for bareback path driving in case you do no longer ideas giving up on your top requirement and paying somewhat extra with their wider lower back and calmer character. i'd anticipate a Saddlebred to be a handful and have lots of means (yet there are constantly persons that are no longer) and that i do no longer probably understand related to the convenience component as I actual have by no ability ridden one bareback, yet considering they're gaited it would desire to be stable, and that they'd in many situations be taller. happy procuring.
