If you are living in rented accommodation you should be given a copy of the current Landlords Gas Safety Certificate, it is illegal to rent out property without one. If the boiler has been passed as safe then it should be OK. The only kind of boiler you can fit in a bedroom most be room sealed.

Depends on a lot of factors...
Model and style of boiler.
Sealed combustion unit would probably pass, atmospheric boiler probably not.
City state and federal codes or municipality specific regulations might prevent it even if it had been designed specifically for the application by the manufacturers. (Viesman 99% efficiency sealed combustion's come to mind, These things are so good that the entire unit is about the size of a pair of college textbooks and the exhaust is near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Technology can outstrip the code books.)
Glad to see all the awareness for CO detectors where ever there is a combustion appliance. Knowledge is power.

Yes it is ok to have a boiler in a bedroom providing it is room sealed. It is also advisable to fit a carbon monoxide detector in the same room.

It is legal to have a gas boiler in a bedroom, but the boiler must be boxed in with fireproof material and have a grill for air to feed the burner. Otherwise it is a fire hazard.

when they talk about it being room sealed it means that the system takes nothing out of the room to operate ..the external flu has two tubes in it ..one to suck in air to feed the boiler ..the other for the exhaust fumes ..so you have no worries ...its quite safe

Probably not too smart you need to buy a carbon monoxide detector and put it in there.
