It seems to me that all the republican candidates this year are economic conservatives and social moderates. I'm not real knowledgeable on Obama, but it seems that he has some moral basis in his platform. Please provide evidence if you can.

He speaks about his faith and church, but they all do that when they are running...I think he is pro-choice and wants universal healt care, so not sure that fits your beliefs...Evan Bayh, if he runs, might be closer to what you are looking for in a conservative/moderate democrat.

Seems to me that all he has to offer is a pleasant personality. They all become "lifelong Christians" when they're seeking office. Even John Kerry proudly announced that he was a Catholic (and, as a child, an altar boy) but look at his voting record. He voted in favor of everything that Christians oppose. You can bet that Obama would offer more of same. Where's Condolezza Rice when we need her?

Liberals have nothing to offer anyone, except handouts to the welfare state at the expense of everyone else.
"Social moderation" has been my peeve with the Republicans. Republicans have caved to the declining moral state of our society, and no longer maintain the high ground they did not so long ago. I'll still vote for them, as there is no rational alternative.

not really, He know's his followers will have a heart attack, even if he thinks about it. There is no ideal candidates but I would be open minded about a Democratic "moderate" . Not sure there is any. With the elephants there's Huckabee and McCain, Brownback's also solidly life. and there's mormon Romney not sure you want to go there.
