Why are there six or seven stories on cnn related to the Anna Smith trial and only one story about the Lewis "scooter" Libby trial? Do you think it is because it deals directly with how the media is in bed with our top government reps? Or maybe it has to do with the actual content of the trial, that being "known" bogus intel? America don't waste your vote in 08 on republicans or democrats they are two sides of the same coin.

You see more stories about Anna Nicole Smith because they are more "entertaining" (i.e., attract a larger audience).
The news media operate under two imperatives:
1. Report the News
2. Entertain
The Facts of Life:
- They must entertain in order to attract viewers.
- Having more viewers allows them to charge more for commercials.
- Higher rates for commercials = greater profits for shareholders.
- Therefore, entertaining enables them to report the news.
The Alternative:
- A company focuses only on reporting the news.
- Its competitors report the news AND entertain.
- The company loses market share and profitability.
- Its shareholders lose their investments.
- Its employees lose their livelihoods.
- The company goes out of business.
- And then, it can no longer report ANY news at all.

Do you actually think CNN is in bed with the Republicans and is hiding the truth of the Libby trial. Its because news agencies have determined that the American people are much more interested in sensationalism than substance and they like showing her boobs on tv, gets a 2 point bump in the ratings every time.
