This girl I know has been depressed for 3 years, I don't think she has ever been diagnosed but you can tell she has some mental problem because she hates life, hates herself and etc.

This girl was VERY shy for about three years, didn't speak a WORD. She has constant mood swings, usually she's apathetic but sometimes she'll go from apathy to anger then she gets hyper and then she gets upset and her moods just flow...

Well out of the blue this girl became completly outgoing, she still has the mood swings but her "main" state isn't apathy anymore, she talks a lot, asks questions in class and does things I'm sure she would have never done before. Deep down inside I'm sure she still hates life, no one goes from loathing life to liking it in one day.

What is wrong with her?! I know this is not normal and I want to help.

Oh and "maybe something happened that made her glad". Nothing happened, her life is still the same.

I think it's a good thing that this girl has gone from glum to glad.
If she'd gone from glad to glum this quickly, I think there would be cause for worry.
Adolescents have a hard time figuring out who they are. Perhaps something good happened at home, maybe a boy has taken interest in her. Maybe she just realized that being grumpy all the time doesn't do a whole lot for you.
Either way, just be her friend. Let her know that you like her for who she is and invite her to hang out sometime.
Best wishes!

Maybe she finally received some help. Perhaps she is on antidepressants, and this has improved her general mood. Maybe she had an epiphany, and hence the attitude change. Maybe she's enjoying the use of narcotic drugs. Or perhaps she decided to commit suicide.

The truth is... unless she shares her feelings with you... there's not a whole lot you can do. You can only help someone who wants to be helped.

Sounds like she is Bipolar. Maybe her mood is becoming stablized with Lithium, or perhaps her salt intake has increased. (Lithium is synthetic salt.) I would try my best to get her help at the counseling center on campus.

She's probably on drugs. She needs a positive influence!
