When the watch is displayed with the time showing 10:10 the hour indicator and the minute indicator are set like a V. This V gives the apperance of a smiling face.
If placed at any other place the apperance will be gloomy and will not be well approved by the customers.

I always heard that since it's a watch "face" , the hands on 10:10 symbolize a smile. Rather corny I know. It's lost on dgital watches though !
