John, I understand your question but, for me personally,I really don't care what they think of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I just ignore this negativity. It has no place in today's society.

Remember everyone is entitled to their opinion whether we agree with it or not it is just an opinion that's all.Besides I have never come across anyone who even thinks that. If I did I would respect their opinion and try to set a good example for my fellow countrymen.Minds may change in time when those with this opinion see how good the American people really are and how caring we can be.

America is a great great country, we must continue to help those in need and rely on America to be there when we are counted upon. Like during the Tsunami of 05 and the persecution of innocent lives by radical regimes, and of course here at home.

We cannot change history, but we can shape the future, for the good of the world. Great Question by the way :p

First of all, americans think they are the best in the world at everything...while that may or may not be, boasting all over the world , doesn't make you any friends.
Next is how the gov't of the USA, carries on unfair trade practises , using duties and outright bans on incoming goods to support their voters, to heavily subsidize it's own industry and agriculture, but complain about other countries doing the same thing.

Then there is the big problem of messing in other countries affairs. If the US Gov't doesn't like a foreign regime, it changes it, either by invasion, or by undermining the existing governments by supporting rebels in that country.

Places they shouldn't have been?? Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, Iraq, Iran, ...economic embargo of Cuba...the list goes on.

We're drifting toward it, if not there already.

Both parties have forgotten Benjamin Franklin's warning about trading our liberties for safety.

Both parties seem OK with meting out ludicrously long sentences for relatively minor offenses.

I'm stunned at the number of people who dial into the talk show lines of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and basically say things like, "Yes, go ahead, search me, detain me, etc, if it means playing by new rules that will make us safer."
People like that think they aren't next, but governments always want to "define down" deviant or even unusual behavior.
Example - let's say you're milling around a bit aimlessly with an especially large knapsack?
You're seen on a security camera doing this, and are whisked away to a police station where your bag is ransacked, you're strip searched, fingerprinted and asked questions about whether you're a terrorist, affiliated with terrorism, etc.
Meanwhile, your spouse (who you were milling around waiting for), having just taken a diaper and a fresh juice bottle out of the huge knapsack you're wearing, emerges from the bathroom and is frantically looking for you. Your cell phone is taken from you, so all they get is voicemail, and of course we're in the age of detain first and ask questions later, so you can't even call them to say you've been taken.
Eventually, you'll be released, but with items missing from your bag, and a very stern warning about how to monitor your behavior in public, lest you trigger another terrorism alert.
And people are willing to submit to this, thinking it makes all of us safer?
When you submit to tyranny, you become the tyrant...
