Most near earth satellites take about 90 minutes to complete one orbit of the earth. The distance traveled in one orbit is about the same as the circumference of the earth which is just about 25000 miles. That means that they are traveling just shy of 17000 miles per hour. That is almost 280 miles per minute. That is a little more than 4 1/2 miles per second.
