Vaseline might be a good route - but please,
DO NOT USE ASTRINGENT. No half educated dermatologist, cosmetologist or make up artist would allow you to put an alcohol based product on your skin - especially dry skin.
Astringents are supposed to curb oil on the surface of your skin. It also has some exfoliating effects - but astringents are best left for oily, acne prone skin, during hot humid months. It will make your skin dry, and it might cause a burning sensation. Your skin needs some love, not more torture!!
So, yes, use a heavy duty moisturizer that is "non-acnegenic" which is the new catch phrase you'll see (or non-comedegenic). Layer it on and let it sit there for an hour - applying a little more after it soaks in. Use a dry face cloth to buff away the cream. You could use an exfoliator, but make sure it has "man made" granules in it. I know that most people think that "all natural" is best, but when it comes to exfoliators, man made beads are round and smooth, as opposed to "natural" granules which are rough and can irritate skin, making it red and painful.
Apply some more moisturizer before applying your make up. Good luck!

Olive oil, coconut, almond are all good. Try adding lavendar oil at 1 drop per 10mls oil - will help reduce inflammation, renew production of healthyskin cells. Lavendar is also used in the treatment of acne and is antibacterial. No quick fix I am afraid. Aloe vera is another good one - if you know someone with an aloe vera plant, applying the clear gel from a cut leaf is the best way. As for the pimples - diet, exercise, natural depuratives like oatmeal masks on the face and steam baths are all safer.

I have this problem sometimes- here's the remedy that works for me:
1. Powder lightly over your entire face to make sure you can see all the dryness- you may not be able to see it until the powder highlights the flakes.
2. Dot Vaseline on the dry patches and let it sit on there until you're getting ready (used sporadically, Vaseline won't make you break out).
3. When you're getting ready to go out, wipe off the Vaseline with a tissue, then wash your face with a mild cleanser (such as Dove). Wipe a mild astringent over the area before you put your makeup on to pull off any leftover flakes.
Good luck and have fun on your date!

Use baby oil & blot off with tissue or paper towel, blot~don't rub. This should work untill after your date. When you can, get some kind of moisturizing cream~I use Oil of Olay but there are others.
Best wishes, have fun on your date but be safe!
