I have the perfect solution that i use myself for similair problems. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an activated carbon filter inside that is really great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays. Just put one in freeze and one in fridge. You may need to put a few in fridge. No messy pieces or carbon powder to worry about. You can also place one in many other areas. The carbon filter in this product literally eliminates the odors and works for a long time. I use this product everywhere including my fridge and freezer and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it and it's not expensive. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying. It's the best product for any odors around the house.

Yuck!
I would suggest washing out the fridge with some good old fashion white vinegar and water (heavy on the vinegar).
After doing so, place multiple dishes of Arm and Hammer baking soda around the shelves (this is an absorbant).
If possible, I would turn off the fridge and keep all door open for as long as possible.
Good luck!

Ugh!!! No fun at all!!! Ok, I would attack this one on many fronts. I would use BOTH baking soda and charcoal briquettes in my fridge to kill that kind of odor. put a baking pan or something shallow and long in the middle of the fridge and in the middle of the freezer section and put in regular old charcoal briquettes- they absorb odor. Also a couple of dishes of baking soda. I'd let that sit over night at least. Next, wash down the walls and shelves with pinesol or something that smells nice and kills germs. Finally, put either vanilla extract or peppermint extract on a cotton ball in a small dish- think the individual dips from mcd's or wendy's washed out well. This will make the fridge smell nice! I hope this works!!!

Buy a fresh bag of charcoal. Open it and leave it in the fridge for several days. It will pickup the odors. Dispose of the characoal when finished. Dont try using it for fires etc.
I would recommend about 10 pounds.

After you have followed the advice of all the above suggestions you could perform a final clean-up with a bathroom mold removing-killing cleaner.

I have a housecleaning job and I had to clean one that had been out in a garage shut off and door closed that still had food residue in it....GROSS. I cleaned it with a bucket of water and a cup of bleach, and then used another bucket of water with vanilla in the water to go over it again. Vanilla is a great deodorizer.
