Shy when somebody see's them in their underwear? That really gets on my nerves. The bikini and bra & knickers are the same. I am not saying they should walk around like that all the time but seriously, whats the difference? Or even when they have a towel wrapped around them. I dont wear a bikini by the way.

I used to work at a restaurant and the waitresses would get all flustered if a guy caught them in the break room adjusting their skirts which had ridden up on them, but didn't mind hanging out at company picnics in their bikinis. I would ask them what the big deal was, and they didn't have an answer.

If I had to venture a guess, I would suppose it's because of how each article of clothing is associated. Underwear is supposed to be hidden and bikinis aren't. This becomes part of the mindset, so when the underwear is revealed unintentionally it becomes automatically embarrassing.

I can understand your point to a degree, but bikini's have been around in the US for decades now. I just don't want to see some guy in a speedo. No thank you very much, I'll imagine the rest of his hot body. Worse if he is not hot get me a bucket I'm gonna puke. That is why I can see your point.

Different state of mine while wearing each. When girls are in a bikini they want to be seen and to show off their bodies. When they're exposed in their undies, chances are they didn't want to be seen and were in the middle of covering up. I think that's just how some girls are.

It's a different context where nudity is not seen the same way. It's becomes a pudic moment where it's intimate. Lingerie is associated to privacy and intimacy.
Swimsuits are worn in public where everyone is wearing one and it's not as intimate anymore in that context.

Maybe they didn't groom themselves for the underwear like they do for the bikini....

They expect the looks in the bikini's....not the underwear...

Only reason you dont wear a bikini is because the Canvas store doesn't have enough time or material to make you one.

I don't know; I have to agree with you. Come to think of it, I guess either one isn't that different from seeing the girl naked though; I for one have a good imagination, so maybe that's it...

A really wierd insecurity probably. I mean Outside life infront of a bunch of people is a bit different than Insecurity around your mate. Unfortunately, Your mate is probably more critical of you.

I think it's just the fact that the underclothes are just that-- worn under. They are not meant to be seen, whereas the bikini is meant to be seen by the public.
