Well, it's already shut down... it's probably going to be demolished or something. It's too bad. I'll miss seeing the smoke when I enter Gorham and Berlin, and that smell. A lot of my family lives in Berlin. I love it up there.

No one knows, but it's fair to say that the papermill industry as we knew it in Berlin is over, or at least the heyday is gone. With high-speed Internet becoming available throughout the North Country, I suspect they'll try to remake Berlin into a destination high-tech town, but it will take MANY years. The paper mills were THE employers for generations. Most of the older workers do not have good prospects.

foreigners will buy it if they have not already, then they will lay off white collar workers while they liquidate the land holdings and assets they will copy the technology and then claim the market is bad and they have to lay off blue collars then they will clean out the workers pension's take the distribution pattern and leave gutting more of America wile Bush holds his nuts
