I'm so sorry this has happened. I don't know how to help you other than to say that this is just awful. I did have an old boyfriend who was filling up his car and somehow the gas thing popped out of the car and shot him in the face. He was in intensive care for a long time and had breathing issues forever. Your poor wife - I just feel awful for her (and you). Good luck and I hope someone else has more insight.

Assuming your mean gasoline, she was sprayed with a mixture of literally hundreds of chemicals, both aliphatic and aromatic. It would be highly unusual for a single exposure to ANY of the compounds in gasoline to have long lasting effects, and that would include benzene. Getting gas in the eyes does hurt terribly, I have had gas in my eyes many many times, so I know what it feels like.
Going blind? How do you know this.? Did a ophthalmologist tell you this is what is happening? If not, she has probably a continuing ocular reaction to the irritation caused by the exposure. If she hasn't seen an ophthalmologist yet about this exposure she should do so. NOT an optometrist, an ophthalmologist, who has a Medical Degree before deciding to specialize in eye work.
Spots on the brain? Pray tell me how do you know this? If she has had an MRI and the resulting films read by a neurologist, you would have been informed as to the nature of said spots. More commonly spots on the brain detected by either CT or MRI would indicate a tumor or a stroke. Not exposure to gasoline. Your wife, if she is convinced that she is going blind and has spots on her gbrain needs immediate medical attention not just gathering information from the internet. Sorry, but as educated as some of us may be, there IS NO comparison with a web-based diagnosis to a medical doctor ordering the right tests and interpreting them correctly. I wish you and your wife the best as I have had four strokes recently. And I have seen the MRI images to show where they occured.
