i am a hs junior. i want to get into oxford or cambridge for undergrad. i have a 2200 sat and a fairly ok gpa, but i go to a really pretigious high school in states.

the fact that ur gpa is only ok doesnt look so good for you, regardless of the competitive nature of ur schoool. if your extracurriculars are solid, you may have a chance. a good comparison, if you cant get into harvard or yale, you probably wont get into those schools either. but good luck, stay optimistic!

I looked into Yale for grad school. I sent for the application information and requirements. It does not seem *much* harder, although it depends on where you're coming from. Do you want to go to grad school or do you want to come in as an undergrad? My suggestion is, visit their websites and have them send you their information. Compare it to admittance requirements of other universities you are looking at. Some universities are easier to get into depending on your major; some have very impacted majors, so they won't be letting people in under that major (you can always go under another major, and then change later :-) ). They don't give discounts if you live in the same city the university is in, but if you live in the same state, you don't have to pay out-of-state tuition.
