what is 2x+4=24? My teacher said that because pie is not involved, the variable x would be 10 times less than the normal answer. There for, x, which would normally be x=10 would now be x=1. i have no idea what she is talking about, but i need to know inorder to pass my quiz! HELP!

your teacher is wrong . just because pie is not involved, dosn't mean that the variable would be ten times less!

pi has nothing to do with this unless there are geometric shapes with round sides involved (as in circles)

2X+4=24
-4 -4
2X=20
/2 /2
X=10

2X + 4 = 24

Now 2X is a number and means (2 x X)

Therefore:-

(2 x X) + 4 = 24

(2 x X) = 20

X = 10

If I were you, I would ask the teacher.What you wrote
makes no sense. The solution of 2x+4=24 is x = 10.

2x + 4 = 24

2x + 4 - 4 = 24 - 4

2x = 20

2x/2 = 20/2

x = 20/2

x = 10

2x + 4 = 24 is a first degree equation in one variabe.

pi is not associated with a first degree equation in one variable.

x is not ten times less

x is the variable.This variable has an exponent of one.

You or your teacher must have misread the question. x = 10, at least with ordinary math. if x = 1 then 6 = 20, and that's impossible.

pi has as much to do with the answer to this problem as i have with the invention of fire...nothing.

x = 10 is the answer to this problem.

If your teacher thinks that the answer is 1, then don't bother studying, because you will not be able to pass her quiz.

dude, pi is a mathematical constant.. if it is not in the equation then it should not be a part in your calculation of X. anyway, the value of pi is 3.1416, so there is no way that the answer should be reduced 10 times.

you got the answer right the first time, don't confuse yourself.

I can see why you are confused.

2x+4=24
2x=20
x=10

I have no idea what your teacher is talking about either - I have no idea why pi would affect this equation.

Your teacher doesn't know what she's talking about. x=10 for sure.
