Ok, On Monday jan 29 I had an ultrasound apt. They said that I have too much fluid. I had 29cm of it. They said that he was only measuring 1 week ahead. I was 28w6d pregnant and I was measuring 32 weeks. I got tested for gestational diabetes and it came back neg. My question is has anyone gone through this before? The dr said that the baby could have swallowing problems or an intestinal block. He also said that I am at risk for preterm labor. If you did go through this was your baby ok? Any help greatly appreciated.

Fluid seems to fluctuate. At one point they told me that I was low. Everything was fine. They too told my ex neighbor this and my aunt. All was well in all cases.

The ultrasounds are not accurate. They only approximate. My son is measuring 2 wks bigger, but I do have gestational diabetes. You may have to have a C-section due to size. I know I am most likely going to have to have one. Try not to worry about this. I know it is hard when the doctor feeds you something like intestinal block, they could do more u/s on you and check the baby intestines. Have they tested you for preeclampsia and are you seeing a perinatalogist? The perinatalogist could give you more information. Try to relax and do not stress over this, or you could go into labor from worrying so much.

ultrasound is not an exact science. I went through the same thing, had to be induced at 38 weeks because my son was 9lb 14 oz. You may just be having a big baby, don't let the doctors "educated guesses" upset you. Unless they know something for sure, relax. Good luck

I have not gone through this, but I have a great friend who is waiting until after the birth of her third child and contemplating on becoming a doula
I would suggest to you on visiting her site, asking this same question and drop her a private line.
