If your Surround sound decoder has an optical digital input, then just connect the Xbox with the surround sound through a so called TOS-Link optical cable. Make sure your decoder is able to decode Dolby Surround Sound.
If you just have an analogue sound system, just connect the red and white audio jacks to your audio equipment. However you will just get stereo sound.

There is a digital signal out on the back of your Xbox. Most newer sound systems will have an input for this. Buy a cheap fiber optic cable the length you need and hook it up, then set your sound system for the digital signal. should be easy to find if not check the manual.
