on a personal level, the way i find total peace of mind and calmness is:
be pool side at the nudist resort my wife and i have membership at.
be totally undressed. in this state everyone is equal and freedom is truly felt.
it doesn't take longer than 5 minutes for my body to realx and for a sense of serene calmness to enter my being. i truly leave the resort in a state of total peace, love, and contentment.

Some people use meditation or exercise to deal with stress and gain some sort of peace of mind.
There is no "best way" to forget the past... and why should you? Your past is part of who you are.... a better solution would be for you to acknowledge and learn from your past.
Everyone quits smoking differently. Someone are able to quit cold turkey... Others use nicotine patches or gum. You should explore the wide variety of options to you, and go with what's the best for you personally.
The best way to quit thinking negatively... start thinking positively! Sometimes people get into a pattern of thinking negatively. If this is the case, counseling/therapy could be helpful.
Quit thinking that 13 is unlucky? Just remember that 13 is just a number... like 1, 2 or 20.... and stop attributing luck (good or bad) to it.

What's wrong with being alone at 30, if you are not lonely? (I'm 42, single and loving it. I enjoy my company!!) The past is gone, it's over, history, forget it, unless there is a lesson to be learned in it.
Best way to quit smoking? BREATHE, and occupy yourself with things that involve the hands-dishes, crocheting, needlepoint, etc.
To quit thinking negatively, know and understand this: Whatever vibe you put out, it comes back tenfold. Put out negativity, and you get negativity in return. Put out positivity, and you get positivity in return. I'd rather have the positivity! I feel much better with it!!
13 is a just a number, it's only unlucky if YOU BELIEVE it to be. You break it down and it's a 4, check out numerology.

smoking quit , Negative thinking, Unlucky 13 are the Factors making you peaceless.
smoke half of the cig., and throw, Negative thinking is Good as you identified as Negative, and 13 is as Good as 12 and 14.
Consult a doctor and he gives right medicine for 5 days, and u feel that only Fear has made you peaceless

Just do nothing for about 1/2 hr. every day. Let your thought-chain
calm down gradually automatically and let it get dissolved into
ether i.e. nothing. You may have to do it conciously initially but with passage of time and with continuous repeations you would experience the lighter side of this new attainment and achievement which would serve your mind and body the peace or calmness that you are looking for and make you cognisant of entirely a new world without praying .

yoga meditation is the key. go to the nearest book store and get the book yoga pilates and meditation. it may take some time to stop the negative thinking, but this book has really helped me. being 30 and alone is better than being 30 and with someone that makes you unhappy. you have plenty of time to meet someone new. you want to be optimistic and ready when this happens. so get ready to spend some real time on yourself. you will be glad you did.

Book reading as a hobby will make you forget your loneliness.When you read books you interact with the authors and know their thoughts on the topic you read.
Keep you engaged all thetime except during sleep.
Take up social service,tution for poor boys free or at minimal charges.
KEEP YOUR SELF BUSY in a hobby,sports,social services,attend religious discourses etc.
Select good and matured ,elderly people and develop friend ship which will relieve your loneliness.

4)No.13 IS NOT UNLUCKY:
No. Number 13 is not unlucky and nasty. Yes, I would marry some one on 13th day of any month/calendar,provided I am an eligible bachelor.
Some one at some point of time branded numbers 8 and 13 as unlucky and people started believing in that theory.
From the definition of God, who is impartial to anything and everything in this or any other world, all things including numbers are treated alike by God and they are created to perform the duties ordained by God and there is not any kind of discrimination in the kingdom of God.
Eventhough I am a progressive thinker,even I am a victim of this unlucky number theory attributed to 13 or 8 etc.
Though good and bad events occur impartially on all days connected with all types of numbers,even I am bound to think numbers 13 and 8 are bad .
If at all anything is there it is sheer COINCIDENCE and nothing more than that.
If any one wants to quit smoking or any other bad habit, it is sheer determination and willingness on the part of the person concerned and also understanding of the evil effects of bad habits ,which act as a motivating factor to come out of such a mess or hazard detrimental to HEALTH and WEALTH.
The best thing is to ignore such thoughts, as there is no scientific background and concrete proof for such thoughts in any part of the civilised world.
I am also coming out of such thoughts and WISH YOU GOOD LUCK to come out of such thoughts.

Put jesus in your life he takes away all of that and if you really wanna stop what your doing you can NOT EXCLUDE PRAYING!!!!!!!!!! cuz Jesus is the one who helps you throu that!!!!!!!!! Also reading a bible helps you out alot! if you exclude praying then you mine as well delete your question cuz with-out praying,i mean its complicated to explain but praying is like your own little time with god,but it is totally your choice i will not judge the descion you make.
