My boyfriend is taking me out to dinner for Valentine's Day. We are getting all dressed up. I was wondering what kind of makeup to wear. I don't wear makeup normally so I don't want something too dramatic. I don't even know where to start. I'm a highlighted blonde with brown eyes and a medium complexion. I have wavy hair so I figure I'll just wear it down. My dress is black. Thanks for helping.

you have a wide range of choices of color for your face, because your wearing a black dress. Ever notice that makeup artists wear black? first, you want to focus on the feature you want to bring out more, either , your eyes, lips, cheeks, etc. if you want to focus on your lips, choose a color that is more bolder/brighter....and lighter color on your eyes. the basic , non dramatic make up look is .....mascara( accents eye shapes).....if your skin is clear/and pretty youthful....you have a choice of a tinted moisturizer/ or powder....if you want to wear a foundation....choose the lightest formula ( a liquid)...its more sheer...and appears less heavy.....lipgloss/lipcolor....and for the eyes a ....highlight one color.....and maybe eyeliner....
there are many brands in the drug store ...that color coordinates for blonde....brunettes...etc....good luck
I hold a certificate in make artistry / and soon will be getting a esthetican license....and i love natural makeup...

Wear dark brown smokey eye shadow on the lid and into the crease. Wear a shimmery light gray color under the brow andon the brow bone. Use a liquid BROWN eyeliner on the top and a solid brown in the bottom. TIP: when using i liner on the bottom pull you lower lashline down with your finger and notice that white rim? Well trace along that rim with you eye pencil. It will make you eyes POP. Finish with a black mascara on tops and bottom lash line. Don't curl them. And when you put your mascara on wiggle at the root and them go all the way up slowly. This will make it clump free. Don't wear any pink blush if any. Instead use a light brown shimmery bronze color. But i wouldn't use a blush at all because it draws everything away from you eyes and you really want your eyes to be the focal point. Your eyes are the sexiest part on your face. Use a light pink or clear lip gloss and keep in applied all the time. You lips will look lushes and maybe you will get a good kiss in.
Good Luck!

I think that your best bet is going for a shiny neutral brown and a darker brown to make a natural looking smokey eye; and if you top it all of with a brown eyeliner it would add pop to your eyes without saying "LOOK AT ME!" If you end up going to a makeup counter you're going to have to make an appointment for a 'makeover'; if you want to avoid it being too dramatic I would recommend their estee lauder counter because they have the best all day liquid foundation too (you can cry, sweat, pretty much anything and it wont come off). Just let them know that you want something that he will notice but you dont want to be too dramatic, avoid blues at all cost, they dont flatter very many people

Since you don't usually wear makeup, keep it simple and nothing too shocking or he may not recognise you!

Wear a tinted moisturiser, with some powder on top, a pale pink blush,pink/red lip gloss, some gold eyeshadow and black mascara. I think it would go well with the highlights in your hair.

Well what I would do is go over to a department store (such as macys) where they have a bunch of cosmetic booths. People there will tell you what type/color of makeup works best for you.

go over to the mall -- i like the bobbi brown cosmetic counter. they can help you pick colors for you. buy one item from them for their time and then go buy cheaper versions of the same colors at maybelline or cover girl.
