Only if the Democrats make it an issue.... It is my observation that many things are an issue only if it is a Republican that does it. The same thing done by a Democrat is a non issue.... strange.

It seems a rather superficial issue at best. Might as well make big ears or hair color an issue if smoking is to be an issue.

There are far more important aspects of nominating a presidential candidate with respect to platform and vision and leadership.

The President is supposed to be an example. How would he be believable in the "stop smoking" campaign if he smoked? The government spends a lot of time and money trying to get everyone to stop smoking. How would it look if the President smoked?

What does his party have to do with it? I am surprised you didn't ask if it would make a difference if he were white.

In this hyper sensitive age, any kind of behavior can be an issue for anyone of any political stripe. Most people won't care, but there will be some who base their vote on this habit.

Yea right Conservatives only both with real issues like cutting taxes and protecting us from insane people. You know terrorists , communist dictators,liberals ,you get the point.

I have not heard of any Republican candidates trying to ban smoking, so no!

alot of Presidents over the years have smoked. The common man will never see that as it is bad for their image.

IMO it's pretty laughable that it would be an issue for any candidate. it's not like they're smoking crack or something.
