PCNA (Porsche Cars North America) is the distribution arm for Porsche for both the United States and Canada... as such, Canada will generally have availability to whatever cars are exported to the US. The GT1 was never submitted for DOT crash testing in the US, since the number destroyed in doing this would represent a sizable portion of the total number made! As there was no version for the US, PCNA would not have received any.

However, there are examples in the US that were purchased directly from Porsche for racing. There may have been similar purchases in Canada, and depending on regulations there, some of these cars could be street legal?

I think Yahoo answers is not a place for something a nuanced as what your asking. Your province, govt has those answers. That car NEVER sold in the US or Canada, and I think a total of 2-3 customers cars were sold in Europe, and that was it.

the GT1 will be much easier to import in like 5 years, when it hits that 15 year mark. As of right now i think you can only get one in under a race exemption.

No, they were very rare and mostly race cars. Don't expect to see one go down your street.
