I guess no-one is smart enough to recognize an ironic question when they see it.

Canada will probably self-destruct in an apocalyptic myriad of disease and natural disaster.

LOL, just kidding. People shouldn't worry so much about whom other people love. What does it really hurt?

If marriage is so important, why are there record numbers of heterosexual couples who chose to live together without the benefit of marriage (even when there are children between them)?

End of civilization? No. End of a very high divorce rate? maybe. Due to the fact that same sex couple have been deprived that right for so long makes it a very sacred thing to most of them. Just think of it this way if straight couples have to wait 10 or even 5 years to get married I think there would be alot less divorce between them. I think that it is a very good beginning to end discimination of people just because of who they love. What right do we have to tell them that they cant marry the person they love? That would be just like outlawing heterosexual marriage. How precious would it be then? So I answer a Question with a question. Is it the end of civilization to keep the prejudice close minded people who make these laws in the US in office?

By an "ironic" question do you mean "sarcastic"??? Anyway.....

I am DEFINITELY not an excuse making democrat or a bleeding heart liberal! But I honestly fail to see how gay marriage is a threat to our national security. Denying a committed gay or lesbian couple isn't going to suddenly stop gays and lesbians from living together, having parades, or having sex! So who cares? I believe in strong family values, so why would I be against the idea of two men or two women being in a commited relationship? As far as what God thinks, that's between you and him. But history will proove that just because you make something illegal, that doesn't mean you've done away with it.

Well, as people under 40 would know it, no. This generation has grown up in a world of gays being thrown in your face and forced to accept it. If you don't accept this misguided lifestyle you are considered closed minded.

From a long term perspective and the continuance of mankind it is the end. We have come to the point where whatever feels good is acceptable. I personally don't care what two people do in their bedroom just stop forcing others to embrace it and say what you're doing is OK.

Don't worry- the straight people have a 50% failure rate when it comes to marriage. Maybe the same sexes will appreciate marriage more than we do. Straights have basically blown the entire concept and have sprouted a new generation kids who have never known a 2-parent household -- with their own parents.

Of course not. My brothers-in law are married and if all couples treated each other and their families so respectfully, the world would be a better place. As they don't have children, they are the best uncles any child could have. All the children in our family love them dearly. They also support the World Vision generously, because of this. I know many heterosexual couples who should never have married.

Only if you think giving all people the same rights is uncivilized.

I can imagine this question was asked when Black people were allowed to vote....that too was the end of civilization.

are we talking about same sex marriage...or civil unions? or are you ignorant of the different concepts. The latter basically protects property rights...everyone should have that right...marriage, on the other hand, provides for a lot more...and is actually worse if you ask me.

No, it just gives gay people the same rights as straight people. No, I'm not gay, but do respect the right of people to make their own choices about their sexual identity.

What does that mean? I think I need a little more detail than that.
