Should it stay, or should it go? I'm writing a paper about it at school, and I've got my mind made up, but I want to know what you think. Are you for or against it and why? How do you think we should elect president? Why?

Though the electorial college has been in use for a very long time, it is time to get rid of it. It no longer recognizes the views of the populace...it needs to go.

The vote should be counted by popular vote. This is supposed to be a country where the people make the choices so let them make their choices. More people might vote if we had popular vote instead of the electoial college.

Electoral college falls in line with our style of government, which is a republic or representative democracy. It's not a true democracy and was never intended to be. As with anything, there's pros and cons and at times one will outway the other, and that usually depends on personal bias to the situation. So, in line with governmental theory, yes, the electoral college is needed and is appropriate. To those seeking a true democracy, the electoral college is ineffective and outdated. So, it ultimately depends on your view of governmental theory as a whole and notsomuch on a single arguement/basis.
