My sister and I live in the same building. Well, this morning my apartment manager went to my sister and told her that he got a call from the police stating that there may be a possible arrest for me for check fraud (which I know absolutely nothing about). So, I called my apartment manager and he confirmed only my first name and apartment number. So, I called the police station. They would not help me. They told me that the detective should have given him a name and phone number. When I asked my apartment manager for the name and phone number he would not help me. Is there anyway I can find out if I have this so-called-warrent or why the police called him instead of looking for me personally?

Go to the District Attorney's office and speak to them...The D.A. is the one who would have initiated the Warrant if there is one, as he/she will be the one representing the State in this case.

Let me add: If this is the managers idea of a joke?, the D.A. isn't going to be happy with him.

Go to the police station and ask to speak to the detective. If there is a warrant out for your arrest, you'll be arrested there and you can post bond and be on your way. If not, you're good to go. If there is, avoiding it will not make it go away. Fact of the matter is that the police won't call your apartment manager and say there is a 'possible warrant out for your arrest'. They would probably just ask your location and show up to serve it. Situation sounds fishy to me, and might even be a nasty prank. But, it's best to find out......so go to the police department.

Call the Sheriff's office in your county. They usually have a warrant line and can tell you whether or not you have an active warrant.

They probably called your apartment manager because they didn't know which apartment you lived in or had your phone number.
