Purchase a new one, every one in the world knows that.

You can't really write over songs on your iPod, but you can delete them and add new ones. When you sync it to your computer, change your settings from automatic to manual. Then you can click on the music tab under your iPod and delete the files that you don't want anymore, and then drag and drop the new music files on your computer that you would like to listen to. You can do this as many times as you want.

Try deleting them from your iPod (but keeping them in your music library). I do it all the time. i have about 5 gigabyte's wourth of (bad) music, but only the good stuff says on my 2 GB Nano.
