so for every trick-or-treater this past year, she opened the door and yelled, "We don't celebrate Halloween. We don't believe it's a holiday." I saw her and her daughter do this at least 10 times. I was sitting on my steps dressed in full make-up and costume as a witch. My question is this, if she doesn't believe in the holiday, which I know was originally a Pagan holiday, and she's a major, major bible person then why do you think she opened her door at all? Do you think this was directed at me somehow?

No I don't think it was directed at you. She could have just turned off her porch light and ignored the door, but chose to proselytize and make a political statement.

I heard about one family that gave out religious pamphlets instead of candy. Then their children came to my friend's door (sans costumes) and expected candy. The following year, when that family's children arrived at my friend's door, she gave them stacks of religious pamphlets she had collected over the year instead. Not surprisingly, the kids did not return a third year.

I think that it was directed toward you as well as all the people taking their children out. However I don't believe in Halloween either but this is not a very religious way to act. We as Christians need to love one another my showing the fruitages of the spirit which are understanding, patiance, kindness, mildness, you get the idea. Which she was not any of these things. I agree with you the best thing she could have done was stay inside and not say anything or print something up on the computer and set in on the step for people to take if they wanted to.

It was once a hungry faith that killed chickens on Halloween, although that's lots greater effective now. issues have been undesirable sufficient in Detroit some years in the past that human beings have been looking raccoon and merchandising the beef.

I don't think it was directed at you, I think it was directed at the kids she opened the door for. She probably saw it as an opportunity to proseletyse. (sp?) The way she saw it, if she could get even one kid to engage in conversation with her about halloween and convince them to her way of thinking, she may have "saved their soul" and that's worth all the hassle of getitng up and answering the door.
