I have 77 processes running and I need to elimate some because my computer is slow.I don't understand why they are all running.How many should there be running?

There is no right or wrong answer to that question, it depends entirely on what you have installed on your machine as to what you should see running in there, everyone's machine is different. If you're worried about it though you could use MSCONFIG to check the list of stuff that's running at start up and see if there's anything in there you could get rid of:

77 is too many, you probably have spyware running.
Try loading Ad-Aware SE to get rid of that stuff.
