Use OxyClean or Didi-seven. They're both awesome at that.

well there are many ways to remove stain´s but they don´t all work and as this stain has been left for a time even harder ,But we can try . let´s try with this one , Normally when red wine has been spilt you use white wine to remove the stain , and as this is a tea stain it might work. first with a little white wine pour over the stain, leave for a few min´s to soak in , then with a kitchen roll blot the stain do not scrub the carpet , you will only spread the stain further , always work from the outside inward´s, if you see the stain is lifting, next thing to do is to take some off your own hair shampoo and sponge the area, then with a clean sponge remove the the soap , once all the soap has been removed , lay a towel on top putting a heavy object on top . This will help soak up any water from the underside of the carpet as sooner or later the water stain will come to the surface and you will have to sponge the carpet once again , If this fail´s to work , try with salt pour salt over the stain add a little lemon juice leave for 1 hr rinse and repeat again . hope this has help you

Vanish carpet shampoo is very good or just dilute a small amount of everyday washing powder in some warm water and go wash the patch of tea stain. Do it in circular motions in toward the center of the stain, then blot it dry. See how it comes out. It may need 2 or 3 tries, but let each treatment dry completely before you do the next wash.
I have CREAM carpets and use these two methods often. They work.

Steredent tablets or similar dentrue tablets work wonder. I have a home in Spain where the water is absolutely awful and these work every time. They are also very economical to use. If the stain isn't too bad about a 1/4 if a tabket will do. Break in to mug, pour boiling water from the kettle in to cover to where the stain reaches. Leave for as long as you can and then wash and the stains will be removed. Obviously for more severe stains you would use more tablet. This is also excellent to use in electric kettles in hard water areas. Unlike bleach it is very safe because if using with dentures you can immediately put them back in your mouth after rinsing.

If it has been there for a few months you must be used to it by now, either buy a rug or a new carpet.

Buy a good stain remover from your local supermarket, or use white spirit, but be sure to test it first to make sure it doesn't stain.
