Investment in more public transportation and make fuel efficiency/conservation and emissions their number one priority. They should tax gas-guzzlers and reward the others. Bring back train networks to transport goods cross-country. Stop subsidizing empty airplanes to podunk-nowhere (did you know that the US government pays an average of $400 for every empty seat on these planes, just so maybe one passenger a day can save a couple of hours by flying over taking some other form of transportation?).

Punish polluters, invest heavily in renewable energy, tax oil companies on their profits and forget about more drilling.

More fuel efficient autos. Less electronics means less electric needing to be generated. Many have gotten away from the energy saving techniques we used in the 70's during the oil embargo times(another carter flop). Just going back to that level, combined with the energy efficient equipment that we now enjoy will be a great start.

How about drilling for the insane amount of oil we have here? We could use less than 1% of the ANWAR preserves surface area and have almost the same amount of oil as Iraq.
Lets drill in the Gulf of Mexico; lets setup wind farms outside the Kennedy Compound (whether ole ted likes it or not), lets setup orbital microwave stations to turn sunlight into power that can be beamed to us for free.
Oh, here's an idea- lets not elect people like Al Gore who tell us "little people" that we need to sacrifice for the greater good, while he owns four houses, and travels the world in private jets to preach about global warming, or John Edwards who says the same thing and just built a 28,000 square foot mansion w/a 15,000' attachment. These people are hypocrites and deserve to be put out of a job.

Get out of Iraq. No one has given us a figure estimating just how wasteful this debacle has been, but I am certain that a LOT of energy has been wasted in Iraq.
