You've probably noticed that you get zapped more in the winter than the summer. That's because dry air increases static electricity. So, using a humidifier will probably be the easiest solution, and also the solution that has other health benefits. Cold air humidifiers are pretty cheap, and they'll make your skin, hair and breathing better in these dry winter months.

Most of the issue is coming from lack of moisture. Just get yourself a humidifer. They are pretty cheap and work great. Another thing that might help you out is to spray your carpets and other fabrics with a mixture of water and fabric softener. Just use one capfull of softener to one spray bottle of water. It will put a layer down so you won't get zapped, and it will also add some good smell around your house! Hope this helps you out.

Get a can of Cling Free and spray it all over your clothes and the soles of your shoes. It doesn't damage the fabric--I use it all the time--and, voila! No more getting zapped!

The air in your house is too dry, you need a humidifer, you can try mixing some fabric softner with water and spraying it on your carpets to help with the static electricity, but it is only a temporary fix.

You need to add some moisture to the air in your home. Either with a humidifier or just put a pot of water on to boil. That should help.
