I have a 1991 Toyota Corolla that needs struts. What can you suggest for what to buy. None of the auto part stores or garages are any help. They want me to buy other parts, too. Is there other parts I should buy besides the struts?

Ideally when replacing struts you should replace the coil springs and upper mounts as well. Coil springs sag over time and on some models are prone to breakage. Spring sag causes improper wheel alignment and reduced ride quality. Strut mounts also wear out. You have to remove them all anyway when doing the struts so you might as well do it all at once and save yourself a lot of labor cost and time.

Or you could be cheap about it, take your chances and just replace the struts. Your results won't be as good and you take the chance of having to do the whole job over again later but its cheaper.
