I Have a 14 week old baby boy, and around 7pm he starts to cry for about 1/2 hour to 45 mins every night for the past month and a half ..So I will pick him up and rub ,pat his back and then He will let go between 2 -3 loud burps...it's like ''pinned gas''. I have switched his bottles from gerber to avent ..but my question is could it be his formula..He's drinking Good Start..Also when I feed him during the day.. I do get his burps after his feedings & through out the day when i hold him he be's letting more burps out of him ..but no crying.I also do use gas drops at night to help him..What do you think?

Yes, formulas definitely cause gas. My 7 week old is on Similac advance, she gets gassy a lot, most of it is due to the kind, powdered formula takes so much shaking. I use the cheap version of mylicon in all my daughter's bottles, you can watch it work and get 99% of bubbles out before she even gets it. I also have to let her sit up in her swing or her chair for about a half hour after eating, this seems to help her burp or toot and ease the gas pains. I also had one advent bottle we tried, but it leaked all the time, so I bought some playtex Vent-aire. Those really help a lot too, I can tell the difference when we use her old bottles ( Comfi) and the vent-aire. As someone said, it's all trial and error. Good luck!

All formula and food cause gas. At that time of the day has he been laying down for a while causing the gas to build up? Pick him up even when he's not crying to give him an extra chance to burp and relieve the gas/air build up. That's also a good time to bond with your baby and give him lots of love, hugs and kisses. Also be sure to talk with your Dr about anything you're not sure of. If you're a new parent the Dr expects a lot of questions and won't mind answering them and if he does mind then get a new Dr. Good luck

It's been reported that bottle feeding any kind of formula will cause more gas and constipation. I'm in the process of weaning my 3 week old baby girl into formula, so do what I did and buy some gas drops to give him before he eats.

I would ask your doctor about trying him on a Soy formula. You'd be surprised at the different types of symptoms a little one can have when their formula is not agreeing with them. My daughter would just get *really* fussy- no puking or anything, and she had a problem getting her burps to come up, so she'd toot a lot, which I think hurt her belly more. Needless to say, when we switched her to Isomil Advance, she became her happy giggly self again.
I've heard a lot of people have problems with Goodstart- I'm not sure why, considering it's one of the more expensive formula's on the market, but it couldn't hurt to try your son on something different and see if it helps.

I think so. When my son started taking formula he was on Similac Advance. He seemed to be cranky [just as yours is] so I switched his formula to Enfamil Gentlease. It's supposed to help with gas and it most defiantly did! He was far less cranky and he was really pleasant to be around. I believe at Wal-Mart they have an off name brand of the formula for only $13. I would check into that and I'm sure you'll find improvement and he'll feel much better. I hope this helps!

Babies are supposed to burp. All is normal and yes, formulas can and do cause gas. If baby gets a belly ache, wrap him tightly in his blanket "Papoose style". rub baby's belly also helps.

Call his pediatrician regarding this matter. They may want you to put him on a different formula that does not cause so much gas...trial and error! And, yes some formulas can cause gas!!!

Ask your doc if the baby might be lactose intolerant. The doc might advise you to try soy formula. If that doesn't work, he might just have you switch to different brands of regular formula to find the one your baby finds most agreeable.
