Phsyiologically speaking the sunlight is actually supposed to help you wake up, of course that implies that you've been sleeping. In the case of staying up all night you have a few things that influence getting sleepy once the sun rises.
One thing is that you realize how long you've stayed up and mentally you start to become tired. Another is that you've been up for so many hours eventually your body is going to need to crash and get some sleep. When the sun comes up the extra light can help make your eyes, which have been deprived of rest, even more weary, which in turn can have an affect on your desire to get some sleep and let them rest.

I have no idea why some people do that, but I do the same thing. Like you look at the clock and think "oh my, I have to do 'whatever' in the morning and I am only going to have 3 hours sleep." Its a great pressure on me. I've adjusted by getting a night job. But, I understand how you feel. Your a night owl. Both of my children are the same way. My husband is not. I tried making them go to bed at night but they just can't sleep. Maybe its heredity??

I love sleeping when it's light. I can sleep at night too however. There's something peaceful about sleeping when everybody else is going about their bussiness. If I didn't have to work, I would be sleeping from 5 am till one pm and be awake the rest of the time minus a little nap around 5 pm.

Maybe it is because your sleep schedule is off. Maybe try eating peanuts or turkey around the time of night you wish to sleep. Both of them contain Tryptophan. Same with milk.

If it is affecting your life adversely, do something about it, like going to a doctor or sleep clinic; otherwise, sleep when you are tired.
