Yes, it is the campaign by a former Intel exec to give every child in the world a laptop. Negreponte is his name and he is the brother of the Negreponte that was partial architect to the Iraq war. Go figure, one kills kids the other gives them laptops.
If you want one and you are not really qualified to get one for free, I think they are being sold for $200(maybe more, when it's completed), you buy two in essence and give one away.

i assume you're talking about the 1 targeted to kids in developing nations. it'll use wind-up (i'm serious) power and a new technology so the monitor will be cheap (they're incredibly expensive now). however, this will not be, of course, a powerful (at all) piece of hardware.
