I send newsletters, weekly letters, email, and call. They sometimes call and I get the occasional letter. Should I insist they budget time to contact me, or seek communication other places.
My father has always been work oriented and doesn't take many personal calls at work, but this is getting ridiculous. Are they lazy or just dingy?

Thanks for the answers. One of the problems is that my mother is retired, and has a lot of time on her hands. My father is tough to get to do things, and my sisters have always been too busy except when they have problems. Then I'm expected to take whatever time necessary. Now, they don't write cause they are too busy.

well, for starter you cant insist they contact you,,, nor should you be calling anyone at work except for emergencies,,,,, i would suggest sending a monthly email or newsletter,,,, one or the other,,,, with family, unless a major event has occured, i think the once a month contact would be good,,,,, and a call maybe once a week to those in the immediate family (parents, siblings etc) just to check in ,,,,, if there is someone in your family that likes more contact, and responds more often, then sure,, contact them more often. communication is a individual thing,,,, your joy for it isnt something wrong at all,,, you just have to accept that sometimes others are not that in to it

They might be lazy, but there is a very good chance that they are just busy. I believe that you should still continue to email them or send newsletters, or whatever. I'm sure that sometime they will have time to contact you so they will. They are your family, and they will always be your family, so they will always be important in your life.

Maybe they are just busy. Write them or what ever once in a while and then take a break and let them get back to you when they have time. You don't want to end up annoying them or overwhelming then with tons of messages or anything. Just be patient I am sure they will get back to you once they have some free time. Good luck!

I live in Belgium and my family are in Canada. With the exception of a couple, they don't call, email or write. So I don't bother with them (of course, except for the couple that contact me). This includes my father, mother, etc...
Gear your time towards others that deserve it.

Some people just aren't good at keeping in touch.Maybe you are overwhelming them and they just can't handle that much.Try cutting back for awhile, see what happens.
