The lifespan of a lead-acid battery depends very much on how it is used. Car batteries are constructed differently from deep-cycle or "leisure" batteries, which have thicker plates for heavier duty and deeper discharge. The killer of car batteries is allowing them to discharge fully. Even a leisure battery should not be allowed to drop below 50% charge; a car battery 30%. You presumably use the car regularly and don't make a lot of short journeys, and the charging system is in good order. Eight years is unusual, but given that you treat the battery well, not unheard-of.

Not unusual for a Toyota but it would be unheard of for a Honda... Even though Honda makes good cars, they are notorious for including batteries that fail within the first 2 to 3 years....

Its possible. I have seen batteries over 10 years old. If you live in a mild climate, that will help extend battery life.
Most batteries in New England last about 5 years.

Depending on usage and loading yes, but the average service live for a battery is around 5 years. It may be worth having your battery checked for capacity with the cold weather.

It's not unheard of. If the car is used for a decent mileage every day the battery will always be fine. My Corolla's done 90k on it's battery.

It's quite possible, if you have been running the car regularly, so it keeps its charge, and on a service, the garage keeps the fluid topped up - then sure, it's possible. Believe me, you'd know if it wasn't working properly...
