Good question. It is nice to see someone thinking outside of the box. The waron terror can only be won if we take the fight directly to them in ways they would not even think of. The only way to beat these people is to put the fear of god into these people. Torture is only one aspect of it. Every American should agree that if you torture someone and get one piece of information that saves one American life then it is worth it. Read about General Black Jack Pershing. I dont remember the year but a Muslim extremist group was trying to over throw the Government of the country he was in. So this is what he did to squash the uprising. He lined up 50 Muslim terrorist and dumped pigs blood all over them and shot 49 of them. He left the last one to go tell the tale. This in turn stopped the uprising. This is the only way to stop these animals is to put so much fear in them they climb back into the holes they came out of. What do they do to a rabid dog? They exterminate it. That is how the whole world needs to look at these terrorist like they are the rabid animals they are.

That is a large part of it. Terrorists will use mosques, hospitals, historical sites, women and children as human shields. All of these are off limits in the Geneva Convention. Our field commanders are greatly restrained which is why this war has taken so long and may not be winnable. Gone is the day when two (or more) opposing forces line up and square off. Fighting terrorists is like chasing a ghost. They jump out of a vehicle or whatever, shoot and run. Any time they hold the line they take mass causalities. They may be Psycho but they are not stupid.
