How did you get those index signs right?

Anyways,

a>

Since (x-2) squared =9,

(x-2) either equals 3 or it equals negative 3

If x-2=3
=> x=5,
else x=2-3=-1

Thus, x= 5 or -1

b>
if2(x+1)(3-x)=0

either (x-1) equals zero, or (3-x) equals zero, because the only way product of 3 quantities can be zero is if either of them is zero, or both are zero.

So x+1=0,
=>x=-1

or x=3

So, x= 3 or neg.1

(x - 2)² = 9

(x - 2)(x - 2) = 9

x² - 2x - 2x + 4 = 9

x² - 4x + 4 = 9

x² - 4x + 4 - 9 = 9 - 9

x² - 4x - 5 = 0

x² + x - 5x - 5

x(x + 1) - 5(x + 1)

(x - 5)(x + 1)

- - - - - - - - -s-

(x-2)^2=9
(X-2)^2-9=0
(X-11)(X+7)=0
THEREFORE,
X=11,7

2(X+1)(3-X)=0
THEREFORE,
X=-1,3
