I'm moving from the UK and have a number of items to sell: from household electronics to books to DVDs to a car. What's the best way to list multiple items for sale since I don't have the time to take things to a car boot sale?

I should have said that I know how to sell on Ebay & Amazon, but it just takes too long to list the things I want to sell - like 100s of Region 2 DVDs, books, etc. Granted they are good services for large items (furniture, etc).

advertise in your local area paper, stating that you are having a house sale on such and such a date, dedicate 1 afternoon to it, you will be amazed at how many people will come and buy your items, ebay is good but if you are short of time, it costs to lis on ebay then you have to wrap and send all your items to, at least with a house sale it is only 1 afternoon, no postage and packaging either. glxx

Well when we moved from London to Spain I would never have thought I had so many thing´s until you start to pack them , we found a very good way was to have a car boot sale . We had about 3 of them . We made quit a bit off money doing that , all help´s especially as the transport for sending any of your belonging is rather expensive, you can also advertise some of your electrical good´s in some off the local shop´s or in loot magazine , but as you have said you have no time for boot sale´s sorry I can only suggest these few thing´s hope all goes well when you finally move

Advertise in the local paper and online at craigslist.com. You could have a yard sale or garage sale. Extremely popular here in the states. I'm sure you have something similar in the UK. We just put a few signs out at nearby intersections and people come, pilfer through your belongings, offer you 1/10th the value and you settle on a loss. Otherwise, donate to a local charity. You may get a tax break from donated items.

Here in the US, we have what we call a yard sale. Put flyers around your neighborhood and local markets with a date, time, and state that you are are moving and need to sell various items. Give a brief listing of a few of the items.

How about a garage sale and distribute leaflets which you can do on your computer, giving times and address. Get a few mates around to help out and hope the weather is fine. The idea of rumaging through oddments and getting a bargain usually pulls in the crowd.
