Because a college degree allows you to earn almost 2.5 times as much as a high school diploma. Its only useless if you don't work, nowadays employers want the proof of education that a college degree offers them. They no longer trust their 'gut' that someone can do the job, and the more paper you can show them, the happier they are and the more you get paid.

Have to agree with the 1st poster. A sheepskin will open the door for you. I hardly ever have to turn in a transcript when I apply for a new job. The only ones are government jobs, and that is so they can verify graduation.

So, it is not useless in the sense that it takes a degree to open the door. It is not useless if you graduate the top of your class either.

Really? All three of my kids are college grads and I am just the poor dumb truck driver that got them through it however they are all making twice the money I make and I wouldn't want it any other way! Truck driving(You may not believe this ) is not very rewarding and I'm glad none of them have had to fallow in my footsteps!

It's not useless you idiot. That's why loads of people do it. It's to better yourself and get an education. Only uneducated people think it's useless.
