Roberto Clemente was not only the most underrated baseball player ever, his humanitarian efforts were equally underrated. He was a class gentleman in every sense of the word. A true credit to humankind that was lost far too soon.

Roberto Clemente was truly the Greatest baseball player in his time, and his heroic untimely death, he still had more years in him to play. My dad took me to my first Pirates game and I got see him play in person, what a amazing athlete. I have all memorabilia from the Wheaties boxes, bobbleheads, thumbs, all his cards, IC Light beer can he was on, programs, Post-Gazette the night he died, videos, pics, mags, etc. I know that's just useless info, but he is my Greatest hero. When I played baseball or softball my number was always 21, matter of fact that's my favorite number. BTW on Tuesday, July 31st, against the Cards, it's Roberto Clemente Hall of Fame coin night. I'll be there. There will NEVER BE ANOTHER ROBERTO CLEMENTE.

It's too bad the guys playing now arent more like him. Now all they care about is money and doing there drugs to be better instead of raw talent like ole Roberto had. He was a great player !!!!!!!!

No, I am not old enough to have memories of him. However, he was a great outfielder and a good hitter. He has 3,000 hits in his career. It is a shame that he passed away in 1972. He was a good person that would help people who needed it. His will be missed but never forgotten.

i am not old enough but i have studies his games watched them watched docmentaries and i truly think he was one of the big reasons people started to sign so many african americans (not to take away anything from jackie) but he had a good spirit he was a good person and he was one of the greats i8 personaly think his number should be retired troughout baseball and if that doesn't happen i hope teams do it on there own. and the way he died was so heroic he to is my favorite player and rolemodel

He was great....saw him play several times on TV.....and he certainly was great....although I often side with Mickey Mantle as the greatest all-around....but in all fairness...there was no one close to Wilie Mays....power....speed....all of it in one package.....look at the numbers alone and he is way out there with something like 2 years of military service that he lost......Ted Williams is a close 2nd!!
