I suffered a physical injury lately, and began to contemplate if a lot of injuries and unfortunate accidents happen when one has a cocksure attitude of their skills and feels on top of their game. Whether it be a football or baseball player, or a driver who feels like the king of the road, I'm wondering if people could be setting themselves up for an accident when they feel they can do no wrong. Of course there is fate that happens too, yet I wonder about having that sense that something bad is going to happen when you feel so competant and somewhat complacent about your abilities. Look back on your life and your accidents and tell me if this is true or not. What might one do to prevent misfortune in the future. Thanks

well, that could just mean the karma hit its mark, but many people don't believe in karma. Another way this could be possible is that whenever you're on top of the world, you never really pay attention (or at least not as much as usual.) This could cause major incedents.

Years ago I experienced knock downs when I have thought I was pretty good at something. Just about the time I think I am on top of the world and getting a slight ego, something happens that knocks me on my a$s and shapes me up. Those events have kept me grounded and humble and life just keeps getting better and better.

i think so. take drinking for example. alcohol gives you a false sense of security and look at all the injuries that result from it
i've gotten hurt that way, so anytime you feel like you can do no wrong you're likely to take chances

I disagree, if you think can, you're right, if you think can't, you're right.
