Drum bearings have gone. You bcan do it yourself but its a big job. If you want to get a repair man to do it, you have to be looking at £150 to £200. Bearings themselves will cost you about £40 - £50 ish if you want to tackle it yourself.

It's unlikely that the fixings that hold the drum in place would have become loose,so it really does look as if it's going to be the bearings.Open the door and see if you can lift the drum up from the top,you will feel if theres any free play.Thing is when the bearings start to go they get very noisy, and you would have noticed this, but it is possible that they have gone, and gone so bad that the belt has come of the back as well. For a guy to change the bearings takes 2hrs,don't know what the rate is now-days,but you might want to consider a new machine.

definitely bearings but there would only be a small amount of play in this area more than likely the drum spider has snapped this will cost to much effectively writing the machine off.
parts needed.
drum spider, bearing kit, tub seal, new bolts for spider .
summary don't bother its only a indesit

Had the same problem and meant I had to have a new drum so hope you are insured. If not have a look round for a replacement. My drum made one heck of a noise and came off its runners altogether. If you can move yours when it is empty then try swinging it round inside the machine and see if it will reconnect and you may be lucky.

sounds like the bearing in the back of the drum is worn out. if so, you need a new dryer
