I reject your alternate "truth" and replace it with the REAL truth. REAL WMDs that were there when Slick Willie was in office, REAL war crimes committed by Sad Dam upon his own people for decades, REAL rape and torture rooms that were operated by Uday and Qusay Hussein, Saddam Hussein's two sons.
These are the REAL truths!

Yes, we invaded Iraq illegally. Deposed the leader of the country under false pretences. Have set about a process that has led to almost a million Iraqis being killed or maimed by terrorists who had no remit to operate in Iraq prior to the invasion. The war was poorly planned and implemented. Now we have the surge as Bush tries to save face at home. The only people suffering are Iraqis and the soldiers on the ground who are dying for a President`s political whim. If anyone should have been on those gallows on 31 st December it should have been Bush and Blair for War Crimes against humanity.

don't be ashamed for the US or England, we help free a nation from a very evil person who killed hundreds of thousands of his countrymen. After we toppled Saddam, Iraq had a free election and the turn out for that election was outstanding compared to the turn out here in the US for any election. Also here in the US congress had the same information the president bush got and they voted to go to war. If we should try anyone for war crimes it should be the whole government not just bush. Your question is slanted towards your dislike for the president, if he did commit war crimes the international community would be calling for a trail, but they are not so get over the though of war crimes it didn't happen and he won't be tried. support the country for that fact that we have the guts and fortitude to stand up to extremist who would rather kill you for being an American that to sit down with you and have an intelligent conversation about religious rights.

I'm neither American or British (or any other "Coalition of the willing"). The world realizes that both the Brits and the Yanks have invaded a county without just cause, which is wrong. I think the world blames Bush for it all (Blairs fault is that he is Bush's pet). So you yanks and brits shouldn't be ashamed IF you do something about this injustice.
And if I hear another comment that the U.S. and Britain are liberating Iraq I will snap. If the invasion was for liberation of the people and to topple a dictator, then shouldn't your next trip be to North Korea? China? The U.S. wouldn't dare!

Yes, those that supported should feel ashamed. Those that voted for them, unfortunately now have some internal guilt, of the possibility of having blood on their hands, even though they did not know the truth. I am sure many feel awful , but feeling awful wont bring back the innocent dead. The only thing they can do now, is fight for the truth, fight for what is right, and help their fellow citizens that are trying to change the country around.

Excuse me - what do you mean by "Our" part?!?!
I'm British and never supported the war on Iraq, neither do I support Tony Blair and his "policies".
I am not in the British Army, I have not been to Iraq, so what exactly have "I" done?!?
I'm angry with Tony Blair for his decision to go into Iraq but for myself how can I be ashamed when I've done nothing wrong?!

No. Because it is too early to say. True history is written dispassionately many years later. We are all hotheaded to make a fair judgement.
Whatever your views troops should be supported all the time. Democratic systems require that leave the war to the soldiers and the politics to the politician

Hitler did not have WMD should we be ashamed of our part in that war. Iraq was supporting terrorism, their freely elected dictator (Note the sarcasm) was killing innocents by the thousands. Should we have just ignored it. Just looked the other way? Iran does not currently have Nukes though that will change in a short amount of time. Do you honestly believe that these insane bastards won't use them once they have developed them?

The failure of American and British voters to dissuade their leaders from this unmitigated disaster in Iraq will go down in history as one of democracies greatest failures. The soldiers in Iraq deserve a far better option than to continue to be fed into the administration's doomed occupation of Iraq. I know of many folks who would love to take back their vote in support of this disaster, and who are deeply saddened and ashamed about the outcome.
