Wow, I'm shocked at all of the people that answered that are kidding themselves. With the divorce rate now over 50%, of course marriage isn't forever!

Son, easy answer here. It doenst matter what you or I or anyone else thinks. The only thing that matters is what God thinks and says. He told us that marriage is forever and that the only reason he finds to justify divorce and then being able to marry again is your mate commiting adultery.
Sort of like how do you feel about gay marriage. Doensnt matter what anyone thinks. God said what he thinks.
Look, do yourself a favor now. Realize that we can have any opinion, moral code or whatever we wish. But that in no way eliminates what God told us nor does it mean that he has to abide by what standards we set. Heck, you are even free to disavow God and what he said, but that wont change anything in the end except where you spend eternity and where you may have caused others to spend it.

If you go into a marriage believing it could fail it probably will. I believe my marriage is forever or I would not have made the commitment.

I really believe marriage is SUPPOSE to be forever, but I also believe it's hard for that to be achieved these days. With unfaithful and dishonest people in the world. Marriage isn;t valued today like it was back in the day. if you meet the right person and get to really know them first and i mean really know them then yes it can be forever.

If you believe in marriage then you believe it is for forever. Personally, I think long term partners work just as well. Why do you need marriage if you have love? It's the same, except you call your partner a different name.

Devil Dog..you must have been or still are a Marine? I think that marriage can be forever, if you communicate your needs, and are honest about where you are in the relationship. You will not always grow within the marriage equally, but as long as you are both on the same page overall it will last.. We've been married for almost 20 years and we are still happy overall.

When I get married I want it to be forever and believe it can be when the couple puts forth the effort.
One just needs to make sure they are truly with someone that is compatible to them and they have the same views on marriage and future goals.

I think that it is important to remember that 'marriage' is a term that describes the union.the true state of being needs to be subtended by LOVE.Now,love is forever.Real love.I am no longer married but still in love.I married the one person I knew I loved more than life itself,to whom I would have given my heart that they may live on.THAT is forever,no matter what differences may have caused us to no longer live as a couple. In other words, you can sign pieces of paper to end a marriage, but LOVE is embedded in your hearts.
